'Queen of the night' - 'Kadapul mala', unfurling around 9pm, spreading a sweet fragrance.






Blooms about twice  an year and at night. It pervades the night area with a pleasant scent. The flower withers within 24 hours. Much sought after in the villages of Sri Lanka to do a 'Puja' to the image of Lord Buddha.

'Kathuru murunga' S, 'Ahaththi' T, Sesbania grandiflora, Leguminosae.

Leaves are chopped and tempered with coconut flour to make a side dish.
The flowers could  be chopped and mixed with beaten eggs, chopped onions, black pepper and salt, fried as an omelette and served.
